(xwməθkwəy̓ əm, Musqueam Territory, BC – Sept. 18, 2019) – BC Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) is holding their 16thAnnual General Assembly this week at the Musqueam Recreation Centre in Vancouver, BC. Chiefs from over 200 British Columbia First Nations have been invited to attend the three-day event which starts on Wednesday September 18.
“We gather to discuss and commit to continue advancing political, social and economic issues including: BC legislation on the implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, cannabis, fisheries, sustainable economic development, justice, Indigenous Languages Legislation and more. This is a critical time as we make headway on a number of fronts,” stated Regional Chief Terry Teegee.

The British Columbia Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) is a Provincial Territorial Organization (PTO) representing the 203 First Nations in British Columbia. BCAFN representation is inclusive and extends to First Nations currently engaged in the treaty process, those who have signed modern treaties, and those who fall under historic treaty agreements which include the Douglas Treaties and Treaty 8.
