Community Description

The Kanaka Bar Band is also known as T'eqt' aqtn'mux or "the crossing place people". It is a First Nations government located at Kanaka Bar, British Columbia, Canada, between the towns of Boston Bar and Lytton in the Fraser Canyon region.

Kanaka Bar's Office of the Chief Operations Officer is responsible for managing the Nation's economic development planning, as well as the four diversified businesses owned and operated by the community.

Summary of Economic Development Agreements, Community Businesses and Joint Ventures

Kanaka Bar owns and operates four businesses: Kwoiek Creek Reources Inc., which developed the successful Kwoiek hydro project in partnership with Innergex, Kanaka Land Holdings, which is a real estate holdings and development company, Siwash Watershed Resources Inc., which will focus on the development of the Siwash Creek hydro project, and Kanaka Bar Employment Services, which is the new employment and subcontracting arm for Kanaka.
